Jean-Pierre Raynaud is a French artist born in 1939. After completing his studies as a horticulturalist in 1958, he began creating works out of street signs and flower pots filled with cement. The latter soon became his trademark and the basis of an international reputation.

This filling of flower pots with cement reached its culmination in 1980, when he decided to cover the pots with gold leaf. Gradually, too, the pots took on gigantic proportions.

In 1998 Le Pot Or [“The Gold Pot”] took up its position on the pool in the garden, where its reflection can be seen in the water.
