As a counterpoint to the Lalanne exhibition, the Donjon de Vez present in a newly-renovated space a suspension by young sculptor Ferdinand Makouvia, born in Lomé (Togo) in 1989.
The uniqueness of Makouvia’s sculpture lies in its direct and bodily relationship with varied materials (rubber, copper, wood, plastic, iron, electrical wiring) which have been reused and worked upon in an artisanal fashion.
The exhibition presents works based on the principle of suspension in space. Its reinterpretation of vernacular shapes reminiscent of African culture has earned it no less than five contemporary art prizes in 2017 and 2018.
Directed by Tancrède Hertzog and Léopold Legros, art critics and gallery owners, and Zoé Monti, specialized in the artist.
